What is the role of an NPQ facilitator?

As we prepare for the next delivery cycle of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs), with Cohort 10 beginning in Autumn 2026, in partnership with National Society for Education – Church of England, we are expanding our team. This is a chance to be part of a collaborative, outward-facing community committed to professional growth and system-wide improvement.

What is the role of an NPQ facilitator?

The role of NPQ facilitator is an exciting and challenging professional development opportunity for an experienced teacher and/or school leader who would like to contribute to the wider effectiveness of teaching and school leadership.

Facilitators will:

• Deliver agreed elements of the NPQ programme, working in pairs (Co and Lead Facilitator)

• Receive high quality training and support to deliver agreed elements by the NSE

NPQ facilitators will be working in pairs on specific specialist or leadership programmes lasting between 12 and 18 months, delivering a series of 4 or 5 face-to-face sessions using the NSE materials provided. The time commitment varies according to the programme, half day for specialist, full day for leadership. Dates are determined by you as the facilitators, in conjunction with Redhill and the programme delivery windows.

Facilitators will receive access to programme content via learning platform Blackboard in advance of the session they are facilitating so that they can engage with the content in advance and work together to plan the session.

Facilitators should be experienced and enthusiastic and will need to supplement the material with contextualisation and real examples to make the material relatable and understood by the programme members.

The role includes preparing for and delivering programme materials, guiding professional discussions, and supporting participants to engage meaningfully with the content in their own contexts. You will encourage critical reflection, helping colleagues connect theory to practice and sustain improvements over time.

While the role is designed to fit alongside your existing responsibilities in school, it requires strong organisation, a commitment to scheduled delivery, and a genuine interest in supporting the development of others.

Payment will be made to the employing school with the day rate between £360 - £450, experience and programme dependant.
