Funding is capped at 10,000 places nationally and across all NPQ providers. Redhill Teaching Hub will continue to partner with CEFEL and Teach First and has bid through our Lead Providers for a proportion of the available funded places across all programmes.

The quality of SEND provision is high on government and Ofsted agendas. The recently published new national standards for SEND and AP should help to improve this provision although there are some worries about the delay until 2025 for implementation. Our Teaching Hub look forward to helping to facilitate the new NPQ for SENDCOs.

Hopefully you will have seen that Redhill Teaching Hub has been redesignated as the North Nottinghamshire Teaching School Hub for the next 4 years, following a successful DfE bid. We are, of course, delighted to have the opportunity to continue to deliver the golden thread of nationally accredited CPD, to the schools with which we have built such a productive and positive relationship in the last 3 years. We are excited about the opportunities this redesignation gives us to build on the work we have been doing around ITT, the ECF, our growing AB service, the NPQs and other CPD.

In the 2022-23 academic year, 22.3% of all pupils were persistently absent. To address this, ImpactEd Evaluation has launched a national project called Understanding Attendance. This is designed to help schools and Trusts to identify the underlying drivers of pupil absence in their settings, and supporting them to assess the impact of their interventions.  

Report 1 of Understanding Attendance provides insights on Phase One of the project, looking at attendance rates of over 200,000 pupils and surveys from 30,000 young people during the Autumn term 2023.

A number of the ongoing changes to design and delivery of Initial Teacher Training will be coming into force in September 2024. We hope you will find the information in this newsletter useful in understanding and preparing for these changes. NPQ bursary funding was part of the governments response to Covid19 and was originally agreed for only 3 years.

The final decision on whether funding will continue is still under discussion at a Department level and remains undecided, however we can only guarantee funding for this upcoming cohort.  We will keep you informed as funding decisions are reached. 

The deadline for applications for the Spring cohort of NPQs is 2nd of Feb for Teach First programmes, and 9th Feb for Cefel programmes. 

NPQ Leading Primary Mathematics will be running for the first time this Spring. NPQ SEND information will be announced soon and more information about the launch of the programme will follow once the accredited providers have been announced. We will keep you updated.
